Cultural Gathering
Demonstration at Rio Ibanez

Demonstration at Rio Ibanez

On Saturday March 14th, on the Ibanez River in the Aysen Region of Patagoinia, local organizations planned a cultural event to celebrate their river, water, life and denounce the fact that local people are being denied water rights for local agricultural and ranching activities due to the fact that the rights to water in the river are owned by EndesaChile (subsidiary of EndesaEspana and the Italian multinational ENEL). The fact that local economic activities are being denied due to the rights to the water being in the hands of foreign multi-national corporations is outrageious to the local people of Patagonia.
