'Cycling For Rivers' is a national event in Bangladesh organized by Riverine People to mark International Day of Action for Rivers. All of our eight public university units situated on divisional headquarters will undertake this event in respective rivers. Besides them five river committees will undertake the same program. Thus eight division and fiver districts of Bangladesh will be included in this event to mark International Day of Action for Rivers. Riverine People has been celebrating this day since 2010 in Bangladesh, to mention. This years event is aimed to engage youths to see their rivers and take action to protect and conserve them. Since cycle is a green transportation and cycling is the symbol of youth, this event will echo to the awareness to the clean energy issues, we hope. For more information, Riverine People is a leading youth based civil society initiative promoting citizen stewardship of national and international rivers, estuaries and other inshore wetlands in Bangladesh since 2010. Its prime focus is building knowledge-based river-leadership in river movement; it was initiated by the spirit or youth- a group of fresh graduates and young professional who are personally committed and sensitive to riverine cause. One of its apex approaches to conservation and campaign including youth work, citizen science, and building trans-boundary consensus for river basin management. Riverine People is pioneer and co-coordinator of World Rivers Day in Bangladesh. We have local units operating in all the eight divisions and top universities. One of our signature youth works programs includes a nationwide River Olympiad which engages thousands of graduation level students each year. To pursue policy changes, we facilitate multi-stakeholder consultation as part of our diverse advocacy programs based on evidence produced by citizen science projects. Riverine People engage and organize river communities to protect, manage, preserve and explore the potentials of their river; we have more than 25 river committees so far. 'Academic documentation' introduced by Riverine People has created a new knowledge line of river campaign and advocacy. The event will occur in Bangladesh; Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Sylhet, Barisal, Mymensing, Kushtia, Jhinedah, Kurigram, Tangail.
