International Day of Action for Rivers 2016

Date:
Wednesday, January 27, 2016

March 14, 2016 marked the 19th Annual Day of Action for Rivers!

March 14, 2016 was the 19th Annual International Day of Action for Rivers!

Every year on March 14, hundreds of communities around the world hold events to celebrate their rivers and educate the world about the importance of healthy, vibrant rivers. By gathering our voices together, we send a powerful message: This world is full of people who are working to revive and protect their rivers from pollution and corporate control. By sharing our stories as one community, we gain visibility, power and hope.

Add Your Voice, Hold an Event
If you're holding an event, please take a brief moment to add your event to the interactive Day of Action map using our online event form

Let the Rivers Sing

This year, in honor of the art that rivers have inspired across cultures, we would love to hear your river songs. Check out the submissions we've received so far:

To participate in this year's Let the River Sing project:

1) Record yourself, your group, or your community performing a song, poem, or piece of music that's about rivers or flowing water. Local, traditional folk songs are encouraged!
2) Upload your video to YouTube or another online video site. Our hashtag #RiversUniteUs collects all our posts about Day of Action for Rivers.
3) Send your video link to dayofaction@internationalrivers.org. We will share videos on our website and social media pages.

As always, we'd also love to see photos from your event. Submit your photos to dayofaction@internationalrivers.org
