Host a "SunGanges" Screening for the 2018 Day of Action for Rivers

“SunGanges” is a new film from Bay Area filmmaker Valli Bindana about the epic conflict between India’s land, energy, water and people. The documentary follows three curious citizens who try to unravel the connection between vanishing rivers and massive energy projects in India. The movie takes a playful, investigative approach to a deadly serious subject, and finds many reasons for hope. While the film is still on the festival circuit, Ms. Bindana is making the film available for streaming to International Rivers supporters for one week, starting on March 14. In honor of the 21st annual International Day of Action for Rivers, we’re pleased to invite you to a film screening! Join us on Saturday, March 17 at 2 p.m. on the Stanford University campus for a showing of “SunGanges,” a film on the epic conflict between India’s land, energy, water and people. “SunGanges” follows three curious citizens who try to unravel the connection between vanishing rivers and massive energy projects in India. International Rivers is holding our annual convergence of global staff members from Brazil, China, India, South Africa and Thailand in Berkeley during the week of September 9. In coordination with the opening of the exhibition, Kara Women Speak, the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art will host a public forum with these extraordinary human rights and environmental activists, who will speak about their work to protect the globe's major rivers and the rights of communities who depend on them. Ready for our festive gala event! Our 30th anniversary celebration was a beautiful thing to behold. The location was gorgeous, the room was full, the "river-tini" cocktail was delicious and everybody was in a festive mood. It was a special night. There was so much love, respect and good will in the room. One person said it felt like a reunion. River Happy Hour and Game Night

On March 14th for the International Day of Action for Rivers, hundreds of communities around the world will hold events to celebrate their rivers, oppose destructive river development projects, and educate others about the importance of healthy, vibrant rivers. International Rivers will celebrate the International Day of Action for Rivers with visits to local consulates in San Francisco and by holding a River Happy Hour and Game Night for our supporters! Join us from 4:30 – 6:30pm on March 14th for one last event in the David Brower Center before we move down the street to our new home.
