The ADB has started to recognize the importance of the quality of civic space in its operations, as seen in the new Environmental and Social Framework. Given this positive development, the ADB needs to learn from the experience of impacted communities and defenders on how it can better respond to issues of civic space and reprisals. During the session, defenders will be sharing their insights on how civic space restrictions have negatively impacted ADB projects and how the ADB should be using its leverage to protect civic space in order to contribute positive development outcomes.
